Bad Juli Bad Juli I know, I know. Shame on me for staying gone for over a month. But you have to understand. Its Spring. And in the Spring, the garden at my house doesnt just beckon. It slithers up to the front door and pounds to be let in or beaten back. It covers the windows in new growth. It wafts in on the smoky breeze leaving the taste of burning pastureland scratching at the back of your throat. It rains oak pollen until your painfully swollen sinus simply cant take anymore and you wake one morning to find your nose crawling across the pillow, making a quick getaway from the Dear Jane note it left when it packed its bags and decided Fuck you, Im going back to California. Ok, you get the picture. The winter doldrums are gone. Green is in, gray is out. Brightly colored flowers are in, dead leaves are out. I can hear the frogs croaking down by the creek and it wont be long before the mosquitos descend in hungry hoards to feast upong my DEET sensitive skin. But I will enjoy it while I can. If you can stand it, Im going to go away again for at least another week. I am going to visit my mother in Arizona. I havent seen her new house yet and she has a pool and spa so you have a pretty good idea of how I am going to spend my time. I will say that we are all doing very well. I have reached a level of peaceful nirvana I hadnt thought possible. Ms., aka my better half, hasnt achieved quite the same level, but we seem to be meshing expecially well lately. The Kid is fine as long as The Kid does what The Kid is supposed to do which is, surprisingly, more often than not.
