Back from Coventry Back from Coventry So, Ms., aka my better half has returned from her conferencewith an unwelcome guestthe flu. Obviously this means she is speaking to me as she needs someone to take care of her. Maybe I should refer her to a doctorNo, that would just be petty. It will be interesting to see if speaking to me continues once her crisis is past. In the interim, Ive run around changing out the theater tickets we had for tonight as she isnt going anywhere any time soon. Thank God we live in a small town where this is possible else it would have been forty bucks wasted. I also ran by the market and picked up some cold/flu meds, the ice cream shes craving, and her favorite comfort food should she decide later that she needs something more substantial than ice cream. Its a gloomy, rainy day in Kansas. Perfect for holing up indoors, aside from the sick person hacking away on the couch. Im doing laundry as the basket that was empty yesterday is now full post-unpacking of suitcases. Im also writing this entry. I got my first call (in Kansas) today from a fellow aa member. ~W~ is having a bad day and it made me feel pretty good that Ive put myself out there enough at meetings that someone is now comfortable enough to call me. In LA I would get phone calls all the time, sometimes within minutes of giving someone my phone number, but I guess it takes a little time for the small town folks to warm up and accept you. Id missed her at last nights meeting. The Kid went to last nights meeting with me. I invited him because I think he should know what it is that aa does for me. Plus ~W~ has kids and weve spent so much time talking about our respective child rearing experiences that I thought The Kid would enjoy meeting her kids. Well she was off visiting with others last night and didnt come but The Kid and I had a good time at the speaker meeting and afterwards I dropped him off at a dance at his school. He came home yesterday afternoon with answers to both questions and his grades for the week are excellent so I thought the dance was an appropriate reward.
